La gravure en relief est utilisée depuis les débuts de l’imprimerie pour illustrer des manuscrits, mais aussi pour créer des œuvres d’art à part entière. L’artiste Elizabeth Adams présentera le processus de conception d’une estampe : transfert d’un dessin sur un bloc de linoléum, gravure, encrage, puis tirage à la main. Les participant·es auront l’occasion de s’essayer eux-mêmes à cette technique en encrant et en tirant un bloc.

Outre quelques estampes achevées que le public pourra regarder, l’artiste apportera des exemplaires de plusieurs de ses propres livres illustrés d’estampes en relief et expliquera comment cela fonctionne. Voir aussi : http://www.phoeniciapublishing.com/annunciation.html

Relief printing has been used to illustrate manuscripts since the earliest days of book printing, as well as to create individual works of art. Artist Elizabeth Adams will show the process of planning a print, transferring a drawing to a linoleum block, carving it, and then inking and pulling a print by hand. Attendees will have the chance for hands-on participation by inking and printing a block themselves.
