Lors de cet atelier pratique, les participant·es découvriront le procédé fascinant du cyanotype en utilisant des pigments photosensibles et des éléments naturels pour créer des impressions d’un riche bleu de Prusse sur tissu. Chaque participant·e recevra un sac en toile prêt à l’emploi, qu’il ou elle pourra personnaliser grâce à cette technique pour créer une œuvre textile unique inspirée par la nature. Les participant·es sont également invité·es à apporter un autre article en fibres naturelles — comme une écharpe, un tablier, une taie d’oreiller ou une chemise en coton — pour réaliser d’autres essais si le temps le permet.

Ensemble, nous explorerons la composition à travers des silhouettes végétales, des pochoirs dessinés à la main et des négatifs photographiques simples. Nous puiserons notre inspiration dans la nature et assisterons à la transformation captivante qui s’opère lorsque la lumière du soleil révèle chaque image unique.

Aucune expérience artistique n’est requise ; il suffit d’être curieux·se et d’avoir envie d’expérimenter.

Les participant·es repartiront avec une création textile terminée, une compréhension du procédé de cyanotype et l’inspiration nécessaire pour continuer à explorer ce magnifique mariage entre art, nature et lumière.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the fascinating cyanotype process using light-sensitive pigments and natural materials to create rich Prussian blue prints on fabric. Each participant will receive a pre-prepared tote bag to personalize through the cyanotype process, creating a unique textile artwork inspired by the natural world. Participants are also invited to bring one additional natural-fibre textile—such as a tea towel, scarf, apron, pillowcase or cotton shirt—to experiment with if time permits.

Together, we’ll explore composition through botanical silhouettes, hand-drawn transparencies and simple photographic negatives. We’ll gather inspiration from the natural world and witness the captivating transformation as sunlight reveals each unique image.

No artistic experience is required—just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.

Participants will leave with a finished textile, an understanding of the cyanotype process, and inspiration to continue exploring this beautiful blend of art, nature and light.
