Le court métrage de l’ONF La Montagne de SGaana s’inspire de la culture du peuple haïda pour raconter une légende fantastique. C’est un film entièrement sans paroles qui, par l’emploi d’images et de symboles, réussit à nous transporter dans un monde magique et singulier. Après le visionnement, et en s’inspirant du film, les participants seront encouragés à faire deux bricolages avec de la laine, afin de raconter à leur tour une histoire sans paroles. Ce sera une occasion de prendre conscience du pouvoir des arts et de la créativité pour nous transporter au-delà des limites du langage et nous rapprocher les uns des autres tout en s’amusant. Un atelier d’initiation au tricot sera également offert pour les enfants plus âgés et un petit goûter thématique sera servi.

The NFB short film, “The Mountain of Sgaana”, uses the imagery and symbolism of Haïda culture to tell a traditional legend entirely without words. After the film, participants will be invited to tell their own wordless stories, either inspired by the film or by their own imagination, through two crafts using wool. It will be an opportunity to explore how the arts and creativity can reach beyond barriers and boundaries to tell stories and to inspire. An introduction to knitting will also be offered to older children and a thematic snack will be served.
