At the request of the culture community, the Quebec National Assembly declared these three days National Culture Days, in 1997. Since then, the Journées have continued to grow, bringing together new partners from the private and public sectors, ensuring the support of society as a whole and sharing the financial burden.

Culture pour tous wishes to thank all the artists and organizations that have helped over the years to make the Journées de la culture more widely known in the community.

Our culture is what brings us together. It is the distinguishing mark of our society. Architecture, multimedia, reading, the visual arts, heritage, museums, cinema, the performing arts, crafts—all are examples of the unique and vibrant character we lay claim to. They also make up the enticing cultural menu that is ours to explore again this year during Les Journées de la culture, under the theme CultureBuffet.

For 13 years now, Les Journées de la culture have put Quebecers from all regions in contact with the men and women who fashion and craft Québec’s cultural identity. These “culture days” are a showcase for our artists and cultural workers, who join together to meet, interact and share their passion with the public. In addition to the numerous activities offered, this event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and appreciate the diversity and vitality of our culture.

I urge everyone in Québec to enjoy a generous taste of Québec culture!

TD Canada Trust

For the fourth year in a row, TD Canada Trust is proud to take part in Journées de la culture. In our view, culture is a cornerstone of our society, giving voice to our shared values and attitudes and laying the foundations of our identity. Support for culture is a natural extension of our business philosophy and of the central role that social considerations play within it. TD Canada Trust’s participation in Journées de la culture thus ties in perfectly with our reputation as a comfortable place to bank.

At TD Canada Trust, we believe that culture contributes to education and personal development. As a reflection of that belief, we support an array of literacy and educational programs for young people.

From September 25-27, 2009, Journées de la culture will be organized under the theme of “La culture à volonté” (“An Abundance of Culture”). Shuttle bus services will be provided and entry to Montreal’s most prestigious cultural institutions will be free of charge. Various cultural activities will also be featured at TD branches across Quebec.

This is not just an invitation: it’s a chance for you to whet your cultural appetite!

We look forward to seeing a record turnout at this cornucopia of artistic excellence. Enjoy Journées de la culture!

Hydro-Québec

As a steadfast patron of culture and the arts for many years, Hydro-Québec is proud, once again, to be a partner of the Journées de la Culture — a unique opportunity to discover different forms of artistic expression and culture, but also to be in direct contact with Québec artists and craftspeople.

Each year, Hydro-Québec supports over 300 cultural organizations which contribute to the development of Québec's economy and our collective well-being. In this way, the company hopes to promote and broaden the reach of our culture for the benefit of Québec society as a whole.

This year's program offers a wide range of cultural events waiting to be discovered. Hydro-Québec invites you to come out and develop your taste for the arts by sampling a rich variety of Québec culture. Excitement, emotion and family activities are sure to be on the menu!
